Study on the Hemocytic Nodulation of Grasshopper against Escherichia coli Infention

Abstract
It was observed that the inoculation of living Escherichia coli into the hemocoel of adults grasshopper result in a hemocytic nodulation using by transmission electron microscopy. The aggregation and nodulation of hemocyte were initiated after 3 hours post inoculation of bacteria. In the process of the nodulation, no other immune responses containing phagocytosis were not observed. The pattern of nodule formation began to initiation of destruction of granulocyte type I . The mitochondria in the destroyed cells were swollen. The nucleus was condensed and transformed into electron dense chromatin. The role of granulocyte type I was to entrap the bacteria by releasing its cellular matrix before other hemocytes form nodulation around the aggregates of disintegrated granulocyte and unreacted bacteria. The entrpped bacteria were unactivated and asphyxiation. The multi hemocytic layers of nodules were formed by the aggregation of plasmatocyte and granulocyte type II.
